The Rules
Know them. Respect them. The floor is sacred.
Hot Mic Rules
Five minutes. One idea. No script.
- Each speaker gets exactly 60 seconds.
- Timer starts when the speaker begins or moderator announces for speaker to go.
- Mic is cut when time expires.
- Stay on topic and keep it civil.
- No personal attacks.
The Symposium Rules
Two minds. One question. No mercy.
- Time limit: 3 to 4 minutes maximum per speaker.
- Stay on topic: Argue ideas, not people.
- No interrupting: One mic at a time while someone has the floor.
- Strict timing: Host or timer will cut the mic when time is up.
- Civility required: Host can end a round early if it becomes hostile.
- Respect the format: Going over time loses the floor immediately.
